Christmas and New Year

Being used to northern hemisphere Christmases, it is really difficult to feel "Christmassy" when the sun is beating down and the evening are long!  The postal service takes all the fun out of Christmas too, as parcels sent down have a customs declaration on them, which tells you what is the package!

As ever, the day began with Harry opening his presents, which this year included a Kidizoom Twist camera, a Mariokart car and a Nintendo DSi, all of which have taken some hammer!

We were again having a BBQ, so got on with lighting it after present opening, and proceeded to eat and drink far too much, fitting The Queen's Speech in between it all.  Needless to say, the sun and breeze contributed towards some people getting sun burnt!
Ruth's Mum, Chris gets into the spirit!

Lots of people had to work on Christmas Day this year because a cruise ship was in town.  This proved quite useful, as Ruth the PE Teacher was able to call in at the West Store to buy some pate on her way over!

Boxing Day was down at the races, which is one of the highlights of the calendar.

The bouncy castles were there too, £3 for all day, come and go as you please, which made Harry happy!

There was another BBQ, this time courtesy of John Carlin, the science teacher, who's house backs onto the racecourse.

Harry decided he was going to play sniper in John's long grass!

New Year's Day saw the Raft Race, which finishes conveniently at the Narrows, our local pub.

Don't spill the beer!

Team Law....or should that be Lawless!
Time for some of Harry's photos - the Kidizoom allows him to put different effects onto pictures, and the lens can point in different directions to allow him to do self portraits!

That was it, time to start making preparations for our holiday to Chile!  More on that later!
